In expected fashion, March has been as a truly Mad month for basketball fans across the U.S. (and all of North America), and the excitement continues to grow as we head into Final Four weekend.
With upsets left, right and center, this year’s Final Four only hosts one First Seed: Virginia. Duke, which WAS America’s top pick to win the championship, was eliminated in a one-point loss to Michigan State on March 31st. Prior to their defeat, many sports analysts favored Duke to take the tournament, even with an injury to one of their key players: Zion Williamson.
Being the only First Seed remaining, experts at ESPN lists Virginia as the championship favorites, with a 41% chance of winning.

What may be surprising to some basketball fans, America’s championship favorite is the 2nd Seed Michigan State Spartans. The lowest seeded team to make the Final Four, Auburn (ranked a 5th), received the lowest positive engagement by fans. However, in sports, fan opinion never determines final outcomes. So keep an eye out for upsets and heartbreaks.
